Mentorship

Adele is honored to offer hide residencies and mentorships that embrace Métis and Nehiyaw traditional methods, as taught by her family and community. Participants immerse themselves in this rich heritage using Michif and Nehiyaw languages and tools in a dedicated and holistic learning environment. Emphasizing the importance of cultural knowledge, Adele is committed to enabling individuals to carry these traditions back to their own communities and families.

To ensure inclusivity, a portion of each full residency is allocated to fund scholarship residencies for community members facing barriers to accessing this knowledge.

Styles of Residencies

Tan Mentorship: Bring your own hide and collaboratively work through a plan to achieve the intended final processing of the hide. This option includes accommodations and meals, making it ideal for those far from Duncan, BC. Financial considerations are thoughtfully addressed to ensure accessibility for all.
Apprenticeship: Stay and learn directly from the work Adele is engaged in with her own hides. This hands-on residency is perfect for locals or those with easy access to Duncan, BC, offering the opportunity to learn through direct participation.

Hides Available

Salted Sheep and Goat hides available for home tanning purposes. Locally sourced and ethically harvested. $60/hide shipping and handling calculated at time of shipping.

Hometanned rawhides for drums starting at $30/sq. ft. Rawhide types: goat, deer, elk, buffalo as available.
